DescriptionAlex Nypl arrived in Woomera on 26 January 1949. He was to start work as a labourer for the Department of Works and Housing on 27 January 1949. Alex Nypl is wearing the coat and hat and has his suitcase next to him. His fellow Czech migrant Pavel Zurek is more casually dressed beside him.HistoryRecently arrived Czech migrant Alex Nypl was directed by the Australian Commonwealth Employment Service to travel from the Bonegilla Migrant Camp on the 26th of January 1949 to Woomera, South Australia, to start work as a labourer at the Department of Works and Housing on the 27th January 1949 - see letter ANMS0286[001. He was instructed to travel by road to Corowa and from there to travel by air to Woomera. This photograph was most likely taken on his arrival at Woomera on 26 January 1949 or very soon afterwards.
