DescriptionCzech migrant Alex Nypl left Genoa on the SS PROTEA on 16 November 1948 with other refugees displaced by WWII and its aftermath. On crossing the equator in the Indian Ocean a Crossing the Line ceremony was held with King Neptune and Queen Amphitrite in attendance. The ship arrived in Melbourne on 22 December 1948.
