VERBATIM (formerly BALENA and BULLFROG) was built by Ian Johnston and Cathy Hawkins in northern New South Wales, and launched in 1985. The couple won a number of shorthand events in the vessel and set several records. Cathy Hawkins also sailed VERBATIM solo across the Tasman Sea, becoming the first woman to do so in a multihull vessel.
