As word of the beauty pf the Hawaiian Islands spread, in 1901 Hawaii first luxury hotel opened on Waikiki beach, Beaux Arts Moana Hotel. It was a gamble that paid off for builder Walter Peacock who promoted Hawaii in San Francisco and encouraged people to visit Hand stay at his new hotel.
