DescriptionThis patch features a boxing kangaroo and was worn by personnel assigned to the Force Level Logistic Activity (FLLA) in Kuwait. The small contingent situated in the Middle East consists of about 40 people responsible for providing a range of services to all Australian Government forces. The second rotation of personnel posted to the region added the number 2 in the top left hand corner of the patch.HistoryThe Force Level Logistic Activity is a small contingent situated in the Middle East and is an organisation of about 40 personnel, split between Baghdad and Kuwait, with about 20 people in each location. They are responsible for providing a range of services to all the Australian force elements in Iraq and Kuwait. The two elements of the FLLA hold two functions-first, running a large warehouse system to support the stores and supply requirement for the Australian forces and secondly, providing Reception, Staging, Onward movement and Integration training to all personnel in transit to Iraq. On average, the FLLA in Kuwait provides training to about 75 personnel a month. Another task is to forward almost all freight from Kuwait to Iraq averaging between two and five aircraft pallets on two or three C130 flights a week. Additionally, the FLLA has air terminal sections at both Kuwait and Iraq which are also involved in moving personnel to and from the airports acting as a distribution centre and providing trade support to Australian personnel. The Baghdad section moved from Baghdad International Airport to Camp Victory in 2007.SignificanceThis badge is connected with the dedication and efforts of the Australian Defence Force in providing logistical services to units in Kuwait.
