DescriptionModel of the skiff ROSE. It consists of the hull (carved out of cedar with a beech deck) a sliding lead fin keel, a mast, boom and spinnaker pole, mainsail, jib and spinnaker sails, and cotton rigging. The transom shows the name ROSE, while the mainsail features a flag emblem of red, white, blue and yellow triangles.HistoryThis 18 inch model ROSE was built by an unknown member of the model skiff club at North Sydney who raced it in on Berry's Bay in the late 1920s before offering it as a prize in the Club's raffle. Keen spectator and punter Lesley Stone won it and presented it to his sick nephew Roy aged 4 in 1930.Significance'Model racing skiffs of Australia : a history' by Stephen Crewes, Sydney, 2003.
