DescriptionPair of circular wooden pulley blocks, known as dead-eyes, for running rigging on a sailing ship. The two wooden blocks each feature three rope grooves through the centre and a groove around the outer circumference which on one block features several coils of rope and on the other block a strip of metal. Two lengths of rope are intertwined through and around the blocks, both of which end in a metal eyelet with a metal shackle attached.History SignificanceOf unknown origin, the blocks are typical of sailing ship rigging and equipment and demonstrate sailing technology and crafts.
