SignificanceGulliver's Travels is one of the great 18th century tales of the sea. Highly fictional, it none the less fed into the widespread interest in travel books and journals. In an era where there was still much to be explored of the globe, these travel stories allowed readers to fantazie at the possiblities of adventure in addition to making a subtle commentry on the poitical and ecomonic state of Europe at the time.
