HistorySteel barque C.B. PEDERSEN was built in 1891 by Continental Lead & Iron Co., Italy. The vessel was used as a cargo ship and throughout its career sailed under several different names including EMANUELE ACCAME, FERM, ELSA OLANDER and SVECIA. In 1922 the vessel was purchased by A. Pedersen who named it C.B. PEDERSEN. In 1937 the ship was badly damaged in a collision with a steamer. SignificanceThe Hall photographic collection provides an important pictorial record of recreational boating in Sydney Harbour from the 1890s to the 1930s. The collection documents the lively sailing scene in Sydney during this period and features images of vessels ranging from large racing and cruising yachts to the great array of skiffs and the emerging technologies of motorboats. Images of many iconic vessels are also included in this visual record.
