DescriptionThis engraving featured in the 7th edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica published between 1830 and 1842. The plate depicts several illustrations of anchors and a scene from an anchor smiths shop. The images include a common anchor; Mr Stuard's anchor; an anchor fluke; new mooring anchor; an anchor smiths shop; and Rodgers patent hollow shanked anchor. This engraving probably featured in the 7th edition ‘Encyclopaedia Britannica: A Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, and General Literature’ published in 1842.
