DescriptionTeacup commemorating the destruction of the SMS EMDEN by HMAS SYDNEY on 9 November 1914 during WWI. On one side a depiction of HMAS SYDNEY on a green sea with an inscription reading 'HMAS SYDNEY destroyed the EMDEN at Keeling Cocos Island Nov. 9. 1914'. Above the vessel the crossed flags of Australia and the United Kingdom with a laurel wreath and star. The makers mark is a crown inscribed with 'Radford Crown China England' and appears at the base of the teacup. Part of a set with 00009230. See milk jug 00005568.
