HistoryTANCRED (BAT-13) was built at Port Arthur, Texas by the Gulfport Boiler and Welding Works. Launched on 1 January 1943 she was delivered to the United Kingdom under lend lease on 18 February 1943. After six months with the Royal Navy, TANCRED was transferred to Australia on 2 September 1944, serving in the Royal Australian Navy until being returned US in August 1948. Sold back to Australia in the same year TANCRED was operated by the Australian Salvage Board before being transferred to the Department of Marine and Harbors, South Australia. It was broken up in 1983.
