DescriptionEngraving from The Illustrated Australian News titled 'Wreck of the "SORATA".HistoryOn 3rd September 1880 the P & O steamship SORATA was stranded at Cape Jarvis en route to Melbourne. All her 368 passengers were transhipped to steam tugs and sent back to Port Adelaide and nearly all of her cargo was saved. SORATA remained on the rocks until 13 November, when she was removed and towed back to Port Adelaide for repairs.
