DescriptionAn etching by Graham Marchant titled 'Landscape study' from a series titled 'Paintings from the Peninsula'. Print number 2/15, signed by artist lower right beneath image. HistoryThis study by Graham Marchant was part of an exhibition held in Balmain in 1988 titled 'Paintings from the Peninsula'. Marchant says of his work: "My oeuvre is based on the close searching observation of the object and the natural world. I have a particular interest in organised spaces, gardens and in pattern. The images are determined by the locations I choose, the still lives I construct and the interplay of light. These issues are demonstrated by my preoccupation with the interaction between the interior to the exterior..." Graham Marchant, 2016. SignificanceThis landscape study by Graham Marchant records a small slice of an Australian peninsula, so vital the maritime history of the country yet still untouched by commercial development.
