DescriptionA screen-print by Walmajarri artist Jimmy Pike depicting a four masted Kartiya (European) boat near the shore.
Of the image, Pike said, "When the first Kartiya (Europeans) came to Australia with a boat; when they first find Australia. That’s a reef and land; he's coming into that land."
Jimmy Pike remains one of the most widely recognisable Indigenous artists who celebrated the use of bold colours and the traditional desert style of the Ngurrarra people of the Great Sandy Desert region.
