HistoryBuilt as a cable laying ship ANGLIA in 1898. Sold in 1907 to Archibald Currie & Co (Currie Line, Melbourne) who converted it into a cargo ship. It was renamed ITONUS at some point prior to Currie Line's takeover by the British India Steam Ship Co Ltd in 1913. Requsitioned by the Australian Commonwealth Government as the troopship HMAT ITONUS during WWI. It was used as a transport and hopital ship during the Gallipoli campaign. Sunk by German U-boat in 1916.
