It includes seven annual reports from Melbourne Swimming Club and Torquay Surf Life Saving Club; a souvenir booklet; two invitations to club events; a letter from Doug Walters to Bill Cavanagh; a telegram; two menus from a Melbourne Swimming Club event; and nine swimming championship and carnival programs.HistoryWilliam Cavanagh was a Victorian state title holder and member of the Melbourne swimming club who surfed at Lorne and Torquay in the 1930s. William was a founding member of the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club. As a 16 year old boy William Cavanagh was known as the "Peter Pan" of swimming, he competed against Frank Beaurepaire and won the Victorian 220 yards championship in 1925.
