DescriptionThis archive series consists of ship deck plans collected by Bill Brennan from cruise ships from 1931-1973. It includes seven First Class deck plans for the P&O cruise liners ORONSAY, ORSOVA, ORIANA, STRATHMORE, HIMALAYA and STRATHAIRD.SignificanceSince the 1940s Mr Bill Brennan has undertaken a number of cruises upon P&O, Royal Viking, Holland America, China Navigation Company and Huddart Parker ships. The documents collected by Mr Brennan during these voyages provide a comprehensive insight into an individual's cruise experience over a period of 40 years. This period saw many changes in the way that shipping companies organised their passenger business, such as the introduction of single class vessels and the development of the cruise industry.
