Lena Yarinkura

Lena Yarinkura is an artist from the community of Maningrida South Central Arnhem Land who works with fibres, barks, bronze and aluminium. Her works cover ceremonial regalia, baskets, bark paintings and sculptures. She has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally since 1987. Her works sometimes feature original contemporary materials when interpreting traditional utilitarian objects. Her three dimensional sculptures of ancestral beings including a family of Yawkyawks have gained her artistic acclaim.
