BiographyFollowing a childhood spent sailing around the world, Collette Dinnigan embarked on a degree in fashion design at Wellington Polytechnic in New Zealand. On graduation she moved to Australia and found a job in the costume department of the Australian Broadcasting Commission in Sydney. It would prove to be invaluable experience and exposed her to period work that she would mine for years to come. She stepped out on her own in 1990, and the Collette Dinnigan label was born.

Collette Dinnigan is one of Australia's most lauded designers and her name is synonymous with femininity and a gifted appreciation of colour. In 1995 she became the first Australian to mount a full-scale ready-to-wear collection in Paris. She remains one of only two Australians to show on the Chambre Syndicale du Pret-a-Porter des Couturiers et Createurs de Mode schedule.
