J Arthur Dixon Limited

John Arthur Dixon (1897-1958) founded J. Arthur Dixon Limited a manufacturer of greetings cards and postcards. The business began in 1926, in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, where he bought a small printing business. From 1937 he was producing his own Christmas cards and postcards (Initially he was producing postcards under contract for W. J. Nigh & Sons Ltd, Ventnor, Isle of Wight). In 1951 production moved to a factory at Newport, Isle of Wight producing millions of postcards and greeting cards in the 1950s.

In 1958 the company began producing guidebooks. The company was eventually absorbed into the John Hinde group of companies in 1998.
