He was aged 24. His father was the Rev. James Balfour Penman, Methodist Parsonage, Katoomba, N.S.W. His mother was Vida; father died October 1931, mother February 1950. Brothers Roy and Horace; sister Gladys.
Penman married Alice Oldham in 1920; Nancy was born in 1921 and George in 1925.
