Karla Dickens

Wiradjuri artist Karla Dickens was born in Sydney. She attended the National Art School, Sydney while she obtained a Fine Arts Diploma in 1993 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2000. She won the NPWS Northern Rivers Region Aboriginal Art Award in 2006 and 2007, the Bundjalung Art Award at Lismore Regional Gallery in 2006 and the New South Wales Parliament Art Prize in 2013.

Dickens has undertaken several art residencies including a 1995 residency in Brewarrina where she worked with 10 local children on a 16-metre mural; a 1997 artist in residence at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Sydney and a two-month residency in Guardella, Italy in 1998.
