BiographyFounded in 1857 in Bremen (Lloyd was a term for a shipping company in the mid 19th century), by 1890 it was the second largest shipping company in the world after P&O. It merged with Hamburg America Line in 1970 to form Hapag Lloyd (HAPAG)
