Jeffrey Samuels

BiographyJeffrey Samuels is Ngemba artist from Bourke, New South Wales and has been active in the urban Aboriginal artists’ movement in Australia throughout his career. He was a founding member of the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative in 1987 and in 2000 was commissioned to recreate a painting for the Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Olympic Games. This same year Samuels designed the State of New South Wales ‘waratah’ logo.
Samuels has worked across many mediums and taught at various institiutions and faciilties. He has long been driven by his dedication to community well-being and is an advocate for addressing social and political barriers. Most recently, Jeffrey's work "Gadigal Acknowledgement Respect" was featured on the cover of the International Convention Centre's Reconciliation Action Plan.
