James Neagle

British, 1765 - 1822
BiographyNeagle was a British engraver who studied at the Dublin Royal Academy Schools in 1786. Noted as a line engraver of book illustrations for popular artists he prouduced a large number of images, most notebly ‘The Royal Procession in St. Paul's on St. George's Day, 1789,’ from a drawing by E. Dayes.

Towards the end of his life (after 1816) he emigrated to America, where he died not long afterwards in 1822. He had a son, John B. Neagle, who practised as an engraver in Philadelphia until his death in 1866.
