Ben Brown

Ben Brown was born in Brookevale, NSW and worked as a labourer for the Water Board and as a saw mill worker. Brown who did not start painting until after his retirement studied Painting and Ceramics (1990 - 1995) and then Academics and Ceramics (1996 - 1997) at the Illawarra Institute of TAFE, Nowra Campus, Bomaderry along with his wife Mona Brown. His work has been exhibited in several group exhibitions including ‘Illawarra Visions’, Wollongong City Gallery, Wollongong (2000); ‘Palingjang: Seawater III’, Wollongong City Gallery, Wollongong (2002); ‘Messages from the Fringe’, Walkabout Gallery, Leichhardt (2003); ‘NAIDOC Week Exhibition’, Hazelhurst Regional Art Gallery, Gymea (2007); ‘People’s Choice’, Wollongong City Gallery, Wollongong (2007) and ‘Gallery 11 Collection’, Wollongong City Gallery, Wollongong (2008).
