BiographyThomas Cook founded in 1841. Became Thomas Cook & Son in 1871. Became Thomas Cook & Son Ltd in 1926. Opened offices in Berkeley Street in 1926. The company was sold to Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits in 1928. British Government seized the company in 1941 after the Germans seized the headquarters of Wagon-Lits in Paris. The British nationalised it 1948. Sold to the private sector in 1972 it changed its name to Thomas Cook Ltd around 1974.
