George Frederick Garrard

BiographyGeorge Frederick Garrard was a yachtsman from Carlton, South Yarra, Melbourne.

He was born in 1870, the son of Dr William Garrard and Ann Eliza O'Mullane (daughter of Dr Arthur O'Mullane). Both his parents died in March 1883 at their Collins Street residence. Their five surviving children were brought up by Maria O'Mullane their grandmother. George Frederick Garrard married Miriam (Myra) Parker in 1899, they had one son, Basil, born in 1900. George died in 1949. His wife Miriam died in 1959 aged 77. Basil died in 1976 leaving no descendants (he married Frances Miller in 1958).

George Frederick Garrard was the owner of SAYONARA when he joined Brighton yacht club. Garrard also owned the yacht AWANUI. He was an active member of the Royal Yacht club of Victoria.
