John Berchmans Kiley

Australian, 1910 - 2002
BiographyKiley was born on 29 January 1910 and joined the Royal Australian Navy at the age of 15 in 1925. He first served on the HMAS TINGIRA for 15 months and then served on the HMAS SYDNEY for 12 months prior to its decommissioning and breaking up at Cockatoo Island.

In 1928 he was part of the crew of HMAS MELBOURNE on its final voyage to the UK where it was decommissioned. Its crew was transferred to the new HMAS AUSTRALIA (II), who took it back to Australia.

On his return he served at HMAS CERBERUS. He left the RAN around 1932.

John died on 15 November 2002, aged 92.
