DescriptionAt the border, about to enter Italy from Austria, two Italian border guards walk beside the train. In October 1948 Czech refugee Alex Nypl obtained a visa to settle in Australia while at the displaced persons camp in Lugwigsburg, southern Germany. In November of that year he was sent by train to Genoa in Italy. The train went via Austria for which he was given a transit visa. In Genoa he boarded the SS PROTEA which departed for Australia on the 16th of November 1948.
