HistoryMcIlwraith McEacharn was an important Australian shipping company from 1875 to the 1980s engaging in coastal and overseas trades. Its passenger liner 'Kanimbla', built in the 1930s, was a well-known ship which had a distinguished war record when commissioned into the RAN. In the post-war years as coastal shipping declined McIlwraith McEacharn bought or combined with other shipping companies, having a share in Union Steamship Company of New Zealand in the 1970.
