HistoryThe ANNANDALE was employed by Allen Taylor and Co, servicing the coastal and Macleay River trade. In 1907 the ketch was carrying coal from Sydney to the Bellinger River when it sprang a leak and foundered 20 nautical miles SE of Smoky Cape. Captain Martin Feil and his crew of seven took to the ship's boat, with the bell in their possession for night signals, and managed to land safely at Trial Bay. The Australian Archives Register of British Ships lists the captain's name as 'Field'.SignificanceAustralian Archives, Register of British Ships [microform].
