DescriptionThis rope gauge used by Keith Murray, was used to measure the breaking loads of a variety of ropes including manila, tarred hemp, cable laid and galvanised hawser steel ropesHistoryKeith Murray completed his engineering apprenticeship with Morts Dock & Engineering Co shortly before the outbreak of WWII. During the war he supervised the conversion of trawlers to minesweepers and passenger ships to armed merchant cruisers.
