DescriptionThis 'Port Cros' bikini is an example of the swimsuit popularised by Brigitte Bardot in the 1952 film 'The Girl in the Bikini' (Manina la fille sans voile 1952). The swimwear label 'Port Cros' takes its name from the French Riviera island. This daring design was much more revealing than the two-piece swimsuits made in Great Britain, Australia and the USA in the early 1950s and reflects the fashions favoured by the European jet-set on the French Riviera.
