DescriptionThe image is of a large Union Jack flag displayed on the David Jones store front in celebration of the Royal Visit in 1954 by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh.SignificanceBetween February and April 1954 the Queen visited Australian cities and towns as part of a world royal tour visiting countries in the Commonwealth. This royal visit was the first to Australia of a reigning monarch.
