DescriptionThis medallion was issued to commemorate the British victory at the Battle of Jutland. On one side it shows a British Lion triumphant over a prostate Prussian Eagle. On this side the image is surmounted by the words “VICTORY OF JUTLAND BANK 31ST MAY 1916” On the reverse side there is a winged Victory riding upon a dolphin, on both sides of her there are inscriptions which denote the commander and deputy commander of the British Grand Fleet, Admiral Jellicoe and Vice-Admiral Beatty. This is surmounted by the words “GERMAN HIGH SEAS FLEET HELD AGAINST ODDS TILL ROUTED BY INVINCIBLE MIGHT”.
