DescriptionThis 'Helicopter mail from Antarctica' envelope was sent to New Zealand. It features the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) at Davis 29 March 1999. It also features a red ink stamp which reads 'Davis - 68° 35'S, 77° 58'E Established 13 Jan 1957. Closed 25 Jan 65, reopened 15 Feb 69'. Davis is Australia's most southerly Antarctic station which opened in January 1957.
SignificanceThis collection is significant in representing a broad range of Antarctic philately interests (the study of stamps and postal history).
