DescriptionThis photograph of BRITANNIA, captured on the left and SYDNEY on the right, in close proximity near the shore on Sydney Harbour. The crews of both skiffs are dressed in white. Water is splashing the sides of both vessels making it white in colour.History18ft. skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron, reportedly established on 19 October 1891. BRITANNIA and its skipper Georgie Robinson were prominent figures in 18ft. skiff racing between the two world wars.
