DescriptionPrint in black ink depicting the line plan for the CUTTY SARK. Text on upper centre reads 'Lines of the composite Tea Clipper CUTTY SARK built at Dumbarton by Messrs Scott and Linton in 1869 under the special survey of the surveyors to Lloyd's Register of Shipping and Classed 16 A 1. This drawing has been constructed from measurements and particulars of the vessel obtained in dry dock at the Union Docks of Messrs Fletcher Son & Fearnell Limited, Limehouse, London, January 1922.'HistoryHerbert Edward (Bert) Young assembled a collection of maritime objects, books, papers, images and ephemera, and established Young's Maritime Museum from his home in Forestville, a suburb of Sydney, in the late 1960s. This private museum was short-lived and in 1972, Young presented his collection to the Department of Shipping and Transport to hold for incorporation into a future national maritime museum. The collection was transferred to the Australian National Maritime Museum in1987.
