DescriptionWoven basket made from jute string, featuring two decorative bright pink/purple horizontal lines, and decorated with pink and green beads.HistoryEva Richardson was born in 1936 in Moonah, Hobart, Tasmania and is one of the Trawlwoolway people of Cape Portland-Ben Lomond area of north-east Tasmania. She works with a variety of media including fibres and is a keen advocate of the Tasmanian fibre arts culture. SignificanceThis work represents the contemporary artwork undertaken by Tasmanian women artists using both traditional and modern techniques and materials sourced from Tasmania. Tasmanian fibre works are fast becoming collectors items. The mostly female artists continue to diversify their techniques, materials and products to a point where the works are collected for their artistic merit above any utilitarian use they may have.
