DescriptionThis silver Swiss pocket stop watch was awarded as the second prize in the Pittwater Regatta the motor boat handicap in 1926. It was presented to Wallis James Dalgarno (1876-1933) driver of the motor boat KOONYA. He was a yachting and motor boat enthusiast and wrote for 'The Australian Motor Boat and Yachting Monthly' under the nom de plume 'The Mate'.HistoryKOONYA was built by Reg Holmes on Parrramatta River in 1926. It was used by the Dalgarno family until it was sold in 1933 after Wallis James Dalgarno's death.SignificanceThis watch trophy represents the sport of competitive motor boat racing in Australia during the early 20th century.
