Amid London pageantry and fanfare by State trumpeters, 69 year-old Pearly Queen, Beatrice Marriot, named Britain's newest cruise liner Spirit of London today (29 April) in a mini-bay on the Italian Riviera near Genoa. Spirit of London (17,000 tons) is P&O's first cruise liner to be designed specifically for short holiday cruises. Based on America's West Coast in a year round programme starting January 1973, she will sail from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Mexico and Alaska. Naming of the SPIRIT OF LONDON."
