DescriptionHammerhead sharks are an iconic marine species with their recognisable elongated head shape which has been suggested to make them even better apex predators. Three benefits of their morphology include enhanced hydrodynamics, keener ability to smell out prey with widened nostrils and a wider field of view from their extended eye spacing. There are 10 known species; common species such as the scalloped hammerhead and smooth hammerhead can both be seen in amazing large aggregations.
