DescriptionBlack one piece women’s swimsuit, size 10 with white printed inscription reading ‘Volvo Piping Hot for Clean Oceans’. Made of recycled polyester/elastane.
Piping Hot are the first Australian brand to achieve Global Recycled Standard at the product level, a process that verifies that the product fabrications are made from post-consumer PET waste including plastic bottles.
HistoryVolvo, the Ocean Lovers Festival, and Piping Hot work together to promote deeper connections with the ocean. Piping Hot is tackling plastic pollution, and making sustainable solutions affordable for Australian families. Using recycled content for swimwear is a step towards the circular economy, reducing waste and saving energy and water in the process.
The Volvo Ocean Lovers Festival was launched in Sydney in 2019 as a three-day festival at Bondi Beach. Blending culture, science, and awareness, they are establishing themselves as Australia's nexus event for all ocean lovers seeking to protect our ocean.
SignificanceThis swimsuit demonstrates the movement in the industry towards production of sustainable clothing, and of the public interest in purchasing and wearing more sustainably sourced and designed products.
In 2020, Piping Hot eliminated virgin polyester from their supply chain, in a commitment to ocean protection and more sustainable swimwear. Piping Hot premiered this swimsuit at the Volvo Ocean Lovers Festival Blue Solutions Summit fashion show held at the museum on 10 March 2022.
