DescriptionA log book kept by Royal Navy midshipman Arthur Pringle while serving on HMS ROYAL ARTHUR in the Pacific. The logbook follow gives an insight into the daily activities of this important vessel and contains a number of charts.HistoryHMS ROYAL ARTHUR first served as the flagship of the Pacific Station from 1893 to 1896 and then as the flagship of the Australian Station from 1897 to 1904. In that role she provided escort for the royal yacht OPHIR carrying the future King George V and Queen Mary to Australia to open the new Federal Parliament in 1901. SignificanceThis log book by Arthur Pringle is significant in relating the to the training and experiences of a midshipman, and the activities of the Royal Navy in the Pacific.
