HistoryWilliam Griffith Dovey (1924-1990) enlisted in the Royal Australian Naval Reserves at the end of 1942 or the beginning of 1943 during WWII. Appointed Acting Sub Lieutenant on 18 April 1944 and sent to England to serve on Royal Navy ships in the North Sea. By 1953 he was a Lieutenant. By 1957 he was a Lieutenant Commander. He married Susan Fane de Salis (born 1928) in 1956. He retired from the RANR around 1966.
