DescriptionThe two 22-footers FIGTREE and VIGILANT were both launched in December 1896 in preparation for the Intercolonial Challenge in January 1897. This image may have been taken in late December (VIGILANT was launched on Christmas Day!) or early January 1897 as the boats appear not to have sewn their sail insignias on yet (IS).
