DescriptionTRUE BLUE was a 24-foot open boat, clinker-planked which was relatively rare among racing boats, most of which were build batten-seam carvel and varnished. Contemporary newspaper reports show it raced between 1891 and 1898 with the Balmain Amateur Sailing Club and the Lane Cove Sailing Club under Captain A Heesch. The provenance for identification of the boat in this image as TRUE BLUE by a previous researcher is unknown (IS).
