HistoryElmer R. Bunting Junior was in active service in the US Marine Corps from 1964 to 1970 serving mainly in South Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.
The Vietnam Service Medal is a military award of the United States Armed Forces established in 1965 by order of President Lyndon B. Johnson. The medal is awarded to recognize service during the Vietnam War and is authorized to service members of each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, provided they meet the award requirements. It was last awarded in 1975.
